OvD... OverDrive.
It's a history some of yall might or might not know... but lemme just give you a blast into the past.
My first ever dance group.. I can still remember it all so clearly...
We were formed to compete in KTO's K-Pop Talent Contest 2011.
This was our audition video.

We took 2 weeks to learn the whole routine although it's a short one. And still there were mistakes here and there.

We were not popular at that point of time. And there was online voting... struggled super hard to get all our friends on facebook to vote for us, so that we could get into the semifinals!
And..... we managed to get in to the semis, and then the finals.

We won 3rd prize in the end!

It was UNBELIEVABLE. I couldn't believe my ears when it was announced... was overwhelmed. My first dance competition.
But honestly, looking back at the videos, I didn't think we were that good... I wasn't expecting our group to win anything.
Fast forward a few months... and Nigel came onboard!
We had a test-drive (pardon the pun!) performance at Ngee Ann Poly and we decided that Nigel would be a permanent addition to the group.
Nigel, being the big sunbae (senior), had the most experience in dancing. The group benefitted and learnt a lot with the new addition. We improved a lot because of him because we had to match up to his level of dancing.

OvD performing Shock.
This was one of the performances I personally liked a lot. :) But unfortunately, it was the last public performance with our leader Eric! :(
We filmed one last cover with Eric and had a photoshoot before Eric enlisted into the army..

After our leader enlisted, our group activities came to a standstill.
During that small break that we had... we decided...
We decided that we do not want to be just a dance group that dances to kpop songs.
We had a vision... and that vision.. is to become a sing and dance group.
At first, we were apprehensive. Because no one from our group had any singing background. I really wondered if we could do it. We took a first step and signed up for vocal lessons at CJ.

Sing and dance.......
hm.... can we really do it?
It was something no one dared to try yet.. Most were either just singers, or dancers.

Then came our chance: TeensSupreme 2011.
Introducing our sub-group: Cheon Nam! (Which stands for Thunder Boys in korean) :D

Johnson: Rap
Me: Vocal
Nigel: Dance/Rap
We decided to audition for the Singing category, trying to impress with both singing, rapping and dancing.

And it was also during this point of time where we started having a few fans!
It's amazing to have strangers walk up to you and tell you that you're awesome. And to a certain extent, these fans gave us a lot of support and gave us lots of confidence to perform! We gave our best, and we didn't want to disappoint anyone!
I <3 our fans. because they give us strength and they make our performance complete.

And the unbelievable happened again..
We. Won. 1st. for Vocal Category.
It came as a huge surprise, because the rest of the vocal contestants were REALLY vocally very good.
But still, I felt our vocals/dance still had a lot of room for improvement. It still wasn't enough.
Somewhere in the middle we did an interview with 91.3fm~ Check out our cover of BigBang's Tonight at the end!

Our first radio show..... awkward!!!!! Haha!
After that we took a break again....
Fast forward again to 2012.
OvD's comeback.

Culture We Love was the perfect opportunity for us to do a comeback.
And again, we decided to try Sing & Dance! Hoping that it'll set us apart from the other contestants.

And we won. 1st place.
But honestly speaking, we're not satisfied with our finals performance.
Sure the energy was good and it was super high but in terms of vocal and dance, it wasn't good.
We tried our best, but it wasn't up to my expectation.
As the semis and finals were just 1 day apart, we did not have much time to perfect our item. But still we wanted to give it a try. We wanted to show something new and exciting.
We did not want to repeat the same item for semis and finals. And the choreography for B.A.P's warrior was an added difficulty.
It's not easy singing and dancing.
We have to remember lyrics (esp rap). We have to remember Choreography.
All has to be balanced out.
It's not easy getting a singer to dance.
Nor is it easy getting a dancer to sing.

We may not be the best, but we're slowly working towards it.
When people say that we are just a "visual" group, it hurts because few can see what we see... few knows what we have been through. We practiced every single night. Just to put up a good show.

My purpose of this post isn't to tell anyone how great we are, or how awesome/lousy singers/dancers we are, or to show off that we won a lot of prizes, but just simply to show you guys a bit of our history and what we have been through the past year, and how it isn't easy to get to where we are today, I just want everyone to feel our genuine efforts and that is enough.
OvD fanmeet!
Last but not least.
We have a few people to thank.
1. Our laoshi Celine! For providing us a studio to practice and offering advice! Please vote for her here!!!
http://www.cozycot.com/iwd2012/popup_individuals?uid=74
2.  Clement, for forming the group and being our mentor.

3. Carmen noona! For always styling us nicely and taking care of us!!

4. CJ Crew! For the support that they shown us since day 1.

5. And lastly, our friends, family and most importantly, FANS! Who support us no matter what and gives us lots of strength!
We are not the best. But we will be the best! We'll work harder towards that goal! We'll do ourselves and everyone proud!
Hope my little story can inspire everyone to keep chasing that dream! never stay stagnant! Let's all keep improving no matter what and stay humble always!

Shining September.

Woah. Okay I didn't know blogger changed their layout. Somehow I'm able to upload pictures on blogger again! So bye Flickr!

Been wanting to blog for the longest time but I've been super busy with dance, and work! (Yeah I know right, what's new) When I've free time I'd rather sleep than blog.

But nevermind, What's important is that I'm blogging now!

For the longest time I've wanted to change my blog template also! Maybe to something simpler. My main grouse is that that pictures are too small and I can't upload bigass pics. and I no longer look like what is shown on my banner. reallllly feel like changing my  blog template but i'm too busy to code one on my own + my blog is pretty dead + just plain lazy. Either that or I'm gonna start redirecting to Tumblr and blog on tumblr instead. I'll just do reblogs if that happens and I'll bore myself even before I start to bore whoever's reading.

But for now I'll just be using blogger to write wordy posts and tumblr for reblogging and more casual stuff.

I went to SHINee World Concert Singapore on 10th Sep!!! Was super excited to meet my favourite idols not only up close, but for 2-3 hours!!!!! Took quite a lot of photos but I'll just upload a few of my best shots. :D

Favourite shot of the day! :D

And then a few days back I went for yet ANOTHER K-Pop performance, this time featuring GD&TOP & Seungri! 3/5 of BigBang!

But before that was the lovely Charice Pempengco!
She was so much fun!!! and her vocals were seriously awesome max!!

September is a month full of celebrities! I just went to the Miss A showcase yesterday!

I've much more to update about my personal life but I guess that's all for now~ Cya!

Didn't really celebrate this year as I was in the midst of rehearsals and submissions.

And also I wanna thank Jolene and gang for the present!
And dearestest Jiaqiwoo and Hayleystitch for their present! They gave me a CK perfume hahaha. but i don't really use perfume. Cause I usually don't stink.

I guess I'll be using perfume more often now? :P

Havent updated this space in such a long time.

Lots to say but. hmm. don't really know how to put in into words but neither do I have the time to do it. Damn lazy to edit + upload photos also. And Flickr's HTML embed system is not helping.

anyways updates updates:
I lost my voice a few days back but I recovered it back!
And I've red hair now! Like really red! but okay photos soon. or maybe some of you have seen it already. but yeah, duh, what's new.
I found a job at H&M! gonna be going for job training tomorrow!
Just performed a sing and dance item at NUS RAG! My voice cracked though. (show yall the video soon!)
Lots of cool shows coming up!
AND I've a competition coming up on the 28th at Frontier CC at 1pm. come down and support.

Hmmm. what else.
I may have submitted my assignments but I still have more to submit and that means... school is not over yet! :(

Kinda surprised I'm writing here as well. Needed a place to just blast my thoughts out. hahaha.

and i've been rejecting lots of blogger events/adverts too. hahaha my blog is like dead. but then again i feel that being a popular blogger is so passe now. okay maybe not but I think I've grown out of the phase? like I'm more interested in singing and dancing now? WAIT. CORRECTION. I have ALWAYS been interested in performing. Blogging was just a add-on.

yeap. i think I've zero obligation to my blog.

I'll update this space again, whenever I'm free. (which is like really randomly IDK DONT ASK ME!)

And if you havent realised yet, i'm on twitter at @altonkeh. DAILY UPDATES. CONFIRM. HHAHAHA

This year's festival will be held on the 2nd July at SCAPE!

OvD at the WAH! Korea Club Party!

It was an awesome performance and an even more awesome party!
We shall bring you more awesome performances in the days to come!

The Eastern Restaurant!

Was invited as a partner with Jiaqi to Eastern Restaurant's food tasting event a few weeks back!

IMG_1115

It's actually the first time I attended a food tasting blogger event actually! and so we got to try some of their best dishes!

IMG_1120
Dumpling with vinegar and also ladys fingers! Not exactly my type of food but I guess if you love sour food / vinegar, you'd like it!

IMG_1118
Their Xiao Long Bao is one of their signature dishes. I don't know about you guys, but I love my Xiao Long Baos when their skin isn't too sticky! as in, it wont stick to the bottom! There are times when I tried to eat my XLB when the skin tore and all the soup spilled out :( and everybody knows that the soup is like the most awesome thing in XLB! And I love Eastern Restaurant's XLB becuase I love the skin!

IMG_1122
Pardon me, I don't know the exact name of this dish but it's like some stemed egg, where you have to mix it together with soya saunce and it will become something like...

IMG_1123
THIS! there's prawns inside if you see carefully! and this dish is one of the few that almost everyone wanted a second serving. ;)

IMG_1128
Baos baos and more baos! This one is called Sha Liu Bao! Flowing custard bun!

IMG_1116
Cant really remember this also, but I remember they have prawn inside and this dish is interesting cause it's served on a spoon! I wonder why..

IMG_1124
Salted Veggies with Bacon! I only ate the bacon though...

IMG_1126
What's chinese food without our traditional fried rice!

IMG_1125
And also sweet and sour pork! Classic!!

IMG_1127
And here is a photo of the boss of Eastern Restaurant! We managed to have a short chat with him! And he's actually quite nice and down to earth, asking us for feedbacks and suggestions that could help improve his business!

Anyways... if you wanna visit.....
